Back Porch Sightings

It's so much fun living around here. You really never know what might happen when you walk out your back door. I haven't kept a complete list but up till this morning I've stepped to find the ones you would expect; raccoons, possums, snakes, birds and even a fox once or twice, but the ones that tend to get your attention are the ones you don't expect. I know I've talked about the Bears that tend to walk around the yard, but recently we have had a couple odd ones. A few weeks back I stepped outside to work on the porch, looked up and a 400lb pig was taking a stroll from next door to come over and play in the mud. It was the neighbors, and we had fun herding it back to the pin, and even more fun a few hours later when it escaped again! LOL

This morning I stepped outside and was greeted by a donkey. Poor Charlie (my dog) has never seen a donkey so as soon as he got a whiff of him he chased him around the yard, then about 6 min later the donkey was chasing him around the yard. It was quite funny. First thing I did was walk next door and ask if they had a donkey. I got a puzzled no, but then I noticed someone riding up the road on a 4 wheeler and me with a rope in hand (like that was going to help) I flagged him over and asked if he was looking for a lost donkey. He was and he herded him up and took him home and all is well. :)

I just love it around here. Figured I'd share the experience hehe. Hope everyone has a fantastic day and a great weekend. Enjoy, have fun!

Carrabelle Bakery Offers HomeMade Pizza!!

For those of you who may have not heard yet, the Local Bakery here in Carrabelle, FL called "Cakes by Amy" is now offering Fresh Homemade Pizza every night Monday - Saturday from 5pm-9pm. We started offering the pizza about 2 weeks ago, and It is delicious! ;)

There are 2 sizes Med (12 inch) and Large (16 inch) We do offer local delivery. Prices may change, but currently it's as follows:
  • Med (12") 3 toppings $12.99
  • Med (12") Loaded $15.99
  • Lg (16") 3 toppings $16.99
  • Lg (19") Loaded $19.99
  • Available Toppings are:
    • Pepperoni, Sausage, Beef, Ham, Green Bell Peppers, Mushrooms, Black Olives, Onions, Pineapple, and JalapeƱos
The dough is made fresh every day, and is hand tossed and made only when ordered. No pre-made or frozen stuff here! It may mean a few extra minutes of wait time, but it's well worth it in my opinion for some good old fashion fresh pizza!

Also, as an update to the post "Bakery News" I'd like to mention we have stopped doing the daily lunch specials, and instead offer the following standard items for lunches:
  • 100% All Beef Hot dogs
  • Chili Dogs
  • French Bread Pizza

For those that may have not read previous post, you can check out the progress from these links below:

The Bakery Saga Begins
The Bakery Saga Continues

P.S. I am still working on the official website for the Bakery, but it will be done soon! We just finished shooting a commercial for the local TV station (Ch. 3 on cable Forgotten Coast TV), and hopefully by the time the commercial gets on the air we should have the website up and running.

Bakery News...

They are now serving daily lunch specials! Give them a call and find out what is on the menu for Today.

I'm still working on finalizing the website for her, but once it's up and running I'll post a link to it. The new website will contain the daily specials and much more info about the goings on around the bakery :)

If all goes well, the initial web site should be up within the next 2 weeks.

The Bakery is also now a member of the Local Carrabelle Chamber of Commerce.

The Bakery Saga Begins....

We have not been very good at taking great photos of our progress on getting the bakery prepared, but I figured I'd throw together some slide shows of what we have done so far.

First we have the beginning...

Next we have our current progress up to now...

What we are missing is the wonderful 2-5 days of mudding and tapping that Amy did. It would have made a hilarious pic too since she came home each day looking like Casper the ghost..
